Seetharama C. Deevi, Ph.D.
TECHNICAL ADVISOR
Dr. Seetharama C. Deevi is currently serving as Technology and Business Strategy Advisor. He received a Ph.D from Indian Institute of Science, a Master of Mechanical Engineering (with Specialization in Manufacturing Systems and Engineering) from University of Virginia, and an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business of Duke University. He published over 150 archival manuscripts in materials science and is a recipient of 65 Granted US Patents and over 150 patents worldwide. He is an expert in strategic planning, research and technology management; assessment and linking of IP portfolio to the Corporate Business and Product Strategies. He also served as an expert witness in PTAB and ITC patent cases.
Prior to this, he worked at Philip Morris, Chrysalis Technologies, and Altria Group for 25 years in many executive positions. He started and Directed Altria Ventures Fund for strategic investments, he was the Director of Global Innovation responsible for institutionalizing the best innovative practices and was responsible for all the R&D intellectual matters and strategic relationships as the Director of Intellectual property management. He also managed and Directed R&D in materials science, specifically in the development, processing, and manufacturing of intermetallic materials and ceramics.
Dr. Deevi has been very active in scientific societies and served on the Editorial Boards of several major scientific journals such as Intermetallics, International Materials Reviews, Journal of Materials Research, Journal of Materials Processing and Technology, and Journal of Thermal Spray Technology. He also acted as a Guest Editor of “Materials Science and Engineering” and “Intermetallics”. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Research-Technology Management and has been on the Editorial Board for over 15 years. He edited a Special Issue on the “Role of Chief Technology Officer” and reviewed over 200 articles published in Research-Technology Management since 2000.
