Khouane Ditthavong is a Partner at Ditthavong Steiner & Mlotkowski, LLP., an Intellectual Property law firm based in the United States. His legal career has focused on intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on patents in the pharmaceutical industry.

Mr. Ditthavong has a comprehensive background in intellectual property law. He has drafted and prosecuted numerous U.S. and International patent applications across various technology fields, including artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, data analytics, telecommunications, semiconductors, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. His clients include companies such as Nokia, HERE Global, Verizon, and GlobalFoundries. In addition to patent procurement, Mr. Ditthavong provides training on U.S. practices and Intellectual Property law to in-house attorneys and engineers within these organizations.

Mr. Ditthavong's proficiency extends to conducting due diligence reviews for mergers and acquisitions, and for compliance, helping clients make informed decisions about their intellectual property portfolios. His experience includes assessing patent strength, analyzing risks, and identifying opportunities for clients in the pharmaceutical sector.

Mr. Ditthavong is also a litigator handling patent infringement cases. In addition to his patent work, he has participated in complex mass toxic tort cases, focusing on the preparation of expert and fact witnesses.

Mr. Ditthavong also has experience in international environmental law and regulatory counseling, primarily for industry trade groups, particularly in the metals sector. He advocates on behalf of clients in U.S. and international forums on science- and policy-related issues.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Ditthavong worked as an analytical chemist for over a decade. He specialized in analyzing organic and inorganic chemicals in environmental media. Notably, he spent five years as an environmental scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water. During this time, he contributed to the development of regulations that incorporated advanced environmental monitoring technologies into the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act programs. He also played a significant role in establishing Clean Water Act effluent limitations and guidelines for nine industrial categories.
