Charles E.B. Glenn

Charles Glenn offers a broad range of expertise in domestic and foreign patent prosecution, licensing and transactional counseling. While serving as in-house counsel for Altria, Charles addressed a vast quantity of patent licensing propositions (including settlements) and managed directly more than a thousand patent applications. He also was formerly with the firms of Cushman, Darby & Cushman; Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis; Schwartz, Jeffrey, Mack, Blumenthal & Evans and Roberts Mlotkowski Safran Cole & Calderon. He also served as patent counsel at NASA Headquarters and the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International.

Prior to all that, Charles worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as an Analytical Engineer in the Advanced Gas Turbine Engine Group and worked as a summer intern in the Patent Department of the NASA Langley Research Center.

Charles is a member of the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association (formerly – Treasurer), former Chairman of the Government Patent Practice Subcommittee of the D.C. Bar and formerly member of the Government Patent Lawyers Association.

EXPERIENCE

Throughout his career, Mr. Glenn has exhibited a capacity to favorably progress key and/or difficult patent applications and for finding acceptable solutions to difficult IP contract matters. He has played a significant role in counseling management on various patent and trade secret matters and executing client education initiatives regarding IP. His experience has included extensive patent prosecution in aeromechanical and automotive matters, laser optical matters, automated materials handling, turbine systems, packaging. printing and paper making machinery. He has also addressed a heavy share of work relating to patent and data management, government contracts, ITC and litigation support work.

Mr. Glenn has been named amongst Virginia Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite”.
